What a spring! Our industry has been blessed with high commodity prices, high input usage, and an overall good wheat crop year until the devastating storms and floods in some areas and droughts in others; sounds like farming to me. Please keep the storm, flood and drought areas in your prayers.
On a more positive
note, it is time to plan for the AMCA summer meeting at Orange Beach coming up
June 22 – 24 at the Island House Hotel.
Beary Bullock is busy putting together a very informative and
educational program. Please note: June
21, 22, 23 AMCA will host “Tables of Knowledge” in and around the meeting area. Vendors interested in the tables, please
contact Beary. On June 22 there will be
a pre-conference Agro Climate workshop at the Island House. June 23 our speaker will be The Honorable
John McMillan; Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industry and Mr. Tim
Shiver and Mr. Frank Berhart: Department of Homeland Security. There will also be a trip to the water park
for families that wish to participate the morning of the meeting provided by
ACMA. That afternoon there will be a
shot gun golf match or you may choose to enjoy free time.
The evening of the
23rd ACMA will host the hospitality and silent auction with a
delicious seafood buffet to follow.
Please don’t forget items for the silent auction. You may send them to Beary Bullock or bring
them to the meeting with you. Agri B
has donated a one day quail hunt for two at Agri B Plantation plus Hays LTL has
donated a very nice smoker grill. Both
these items will be given away at the cookout.
In order to have a chance to win these items you may purchase tickets
for $10.00 each from an ACMA Board of Director’s member or an ACMA
officer. You do not have to be present
to win either of these items. Proceeds
made from the silent auction, “Table of Knowledge” and both drawings will all
go toward the AMCA Scholarship Fund and other worthwhile projects.
I look forward to seeing you and your families in June at the Island House Hotel in Orange Beach for fun, fellowship, food, education, (and, do not forget to register for your CCA points for attending the meeting).
Please contact Beary if you are interested in advertising in the ACMA Directory. If you have any questions please contact either Beary Bullock at 334-794-8697, bearyb@agri-afc.com or me at 678-628-4877, mwr1952@bellsouth.net. I would like to thank each of you in advance for your contributions to ACMA.
Have a safe trip,
